The level design, art direction, and game mechanics are solid, but the controls feel very labored and slow. I question adding slow motion when the goals were reached with the game being so slow. Perhaps starting off fast and slowing down would have done better for delivering the narrative.
I don't know if teleporting with the sword as it moves is an intentional mechanic, but be sure to keep it, it made the last level so much fun!
This game is lacking a lot of polish. The platforms are difficult to traverse for the wrong reasons, not only do the moving ones slide out form under lucario, but the platform boundaries themselves are deceptively longer than the pictures would suggest; it really shows in the upside-down stage. Also the platforms on the final level, make lucario bounce when they lower, It might have something to do with the character's fall speed. The songs were nice, but after 5 or 6 deaths, they start to wear thin.
Thanks for reviewing! I'm happy you enjoyed the music. I'll try my best to improve.
This is a well designed and well polished game, however I found the character's fall speed to be a bit high for a platformer. That being said, the gameplay is solid and all the mistakes made are the players. I was disappointed at the level of complexity though; I thought there would be a switch in the previous room I needed to advance, but that wasn't the case.
It's a very simple game, but I will commend you on making a game of this so quickly. and the hit detection is spot on.
While I'm not a fan of the metroidvania style of level design, I do thing it is done well, the checkpoints after dieing were a bit too far but no major gripes other than that. Since this is a month's game it's length wont be any points off. What I do like about your game the most is that any mistake is the fault of the player.
Much appreciated. I'll that in mind for the future : )
I get the message it's going for.
I made mostly with choices so i ended up going back and doing every option. Most of them were funny but a dirty sanches is better heard than seen to me.... so 4.5 out a 5 for me. I can't wait to see this in color. keep it up dude. (>^0^)>
This is more than loosely based on bit trip runner but for what it is I do find it enjoyable and the title grabbed me.
Hmm.. I played 1 or 2 levels of bit trip runner and sound was indeed inspired by it. But it was not what I had in mind when making the game. The idea for this game came from that I thought it would be cool if you had to remember just too many keys to play with. I would have added an extra row of keys if I had the time xd
I like what this game is saying to me, "come on you can get across, but the rest might have a bit of trouble though". As opposed to frogger, these cars change lanes and give you that genuine hnnnnnnffuuuuuuu~ moment that few games can deliver. The collisions are also spot on, after i got the first ten across it scared the hell out of me when I went slomo and then was ragdolled across the center divide.
